Unable to run under Ubuntu Linux [097 2007-07-15 RC4]

Latest POL core refuses to run on my Linux (Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn) system... 
Running ecompile, with any parameter, I obtain:
Using POL RC3 it's all ok.
On live shard (SuSE 9.3) RC4 works ok.
Any idea?
P.S.: "Istruzione illecita" is italian translation of "Illegal instruction"

and running pol it shows some non-sense errors on cfg files and then theEScript Executor vIstruzione illecita (core dumped)
message after some starting lines...Istruzione illecita (core dumped)
