make a file called
ecompile.bat
and open it in a text editor and paste this

Or you could download the basic-setup for 097 distro and extract that batch file and well... run it and... you'll get the idea...

You can't compile *.cfg files. They're supposed to be fulltext reference files; kind of like an intermediate medium between you and the server before the server is powered up.
Do you have a "vitals.cfg" in "/pol/pkg/foundations/hooks" ?
If so, check to make sure that you have the right file located, meaning that there is, indeed, a "regen.src" in that directory. If there is, but it's not compiled, compile that directory:
Open a dos prompt (Start->Run->"CMD" if you're using WindowsXP).
Navigate to your POL Scripts directory ("CD "+Drive+"\"+POL Directory+"\scripts")
Compile that directory:
"ecompile.exe -r ../pkg/foundations/hooks/".
If you're regen.src is in a different directory, you either need to move it and compile it there; or you need to change the configuration to reflect it's new location.
If you don't have a vitals.cfg in the directory, then you need to make and configure one.

Hmm.. think i fixed it.. i just get this now..
Code: Select all
Error reading configuration file config/repsys.cfg:
Property 'Invulnerable' was not found.
Element: NameColoring , found on line 1
Error reading configuration file config/repsys.cfg:
Mandatory section type 'General' not found
Element started on line: 1
grrs.. damn errors :<

Open up
/pol/config/repsys.cfg in your favorite text editor.
By default, it looks like this:
Code: Select all
NameColoring
{
Murderer 38
Criminal 905
Attackable 905
Innocent 90
GuildAlly 68
GuildEnemy 44
}
General
{
CriminalFlagInterval 120
AggressorFlagTimeout 120
}
What's wrong with this? Nothing... if you're the core. However, if a script is reading any- and I mean
any config file, it is absolutely imperative that every field have a "Element Type" (That usually doesn't matter) and an "Element Identifier". The format for this is:
Code: Select all
[TYPE] [NAME]
{
[VARIABLE] [VALUE]
...
}
In this case, all you really have to do (and, actually, what I reccomend you do) is duplicate the "Type" to create an "ID".
Change "General" to "General General" and "NameColoring" to "NameColoring NameColoring", and that should fairly well fix the problem in, to my knowledge, every version of POL.
Code: Select all
NameColoring NameColoring
{
Murderer 38
Criminal 905
Attackable 905
Innocent 90
GuildAlly 68
GuildEnemy 44
}
General General
{
CriminalFlagInterval 120
AggressorFlagTimeout 120
}
I hope this was useful

Are you absolutely sure that you have recompiled /pol/foundations/hooks/regen.src with your current compiler? If not, do it again, and make SURE that you have compiled the correct src file.

looks like you're trying to try to upgrade an ancient script base just by compiling to Pol096... better to read core-changes.txt first and to modify your script base step by step as described in the changes.
your lst error looks like "case closedist()" where u have to add brackets like "case (closedist())"...

core-changes.txt is a very long file that will make you have to change a ton of things in your scriptbase. It literally took me months to convert and stabilize my scriptbase on 096 when converting from 095. You have to look for the line --095-- in the core-changes.txt and start going up from there step by step. This isn't a 10-15 step process, a good majority if not your entire scriptbase needs to be changed according to what core-changes.txt says.

apparently you used the wrong .em files or you didnt recompile that script under the new ecompile and em files. Remember to recompile after replacing ALL of the files that come with the core download because every single one is important even if it seems like its an exact copy of the last version. Also, when recompiling, remember to delete all .ecl files in your POL directory to ensure they all recompile.
