differences beetween POL99 and POL96

Post by earoquette »

Hello there!

Where could I find some information about the differences between POL96 and POL99 ?

I'm supposed to start a shard, which version should I choose?
Thanks

Hi,

the file core-changes.txt in the POL099 distro will explain you all the differences.

Start reading it from the top ultil you find the "POL096" marker.

For starting a new shard, it's probably best to get the lastest POL available.

Would you really recommend pol99 for a new shard? Pol99 is still in BETA and potentially unstable. Wouldn't it make more sense to work with (stable) pol98 version? Can someone clarify, how safe is to run on pol99 vs pol98?

I'll jump in here and add my thoughts.

I believe there have been several bug fixes since POL 0.98 was released as a finished product. I think some memory leaks and that type of thing were fixed. POL 0.99 has been in "beta" for quite some time and as far as I know is pretty stable. So I would recommend POL 0.99 for active servers.
