Drake Online: Scipter wanted: Games

Post by Luth »

As the core game nears completion, and all the A-priority tasks get done, a lot of B-priority tasks are rising to the surface. These are the tasks that are not essential to game-play, but are instead the pieces that add extra fun to the game. Most of these tasks are not DO-specific, and can be used on your own UO shards as well. In addition to helping DO, and creating something for your own shard, and of the other scripts that you think may benefit you or your shard will be made available to you for thanks. In addition, you will get full credit for your work.

Games
In the back room of Tanwood's Inn & Tavern is the gambling hall. Here a number of games can be played, and wagers placed on any of them. Some of them may even already exist, in which case, simply point me to them and I'll cross them off the list. Here are some of the games I'd like:

Checkers: Playable by two players, where the rules are enforced by the server. One player sits down at the checkers table, and challenges another player, who also takes a seat. If accepted, a wager is placed, and the game holds the money in reserve. The game begins, with the server moderating the game and enforcing the rules. Once a player wins, the game awards the winner with his bounty, and the game resets for another go.
Requirements: Good at eScript. Must know, or learn, the rules of checkers.
Additional assets required: none

Roulette: Played in rounds with any number of betting participants each round. Betting is a dumbed-down version of roulette. Bets are on whole numbers, rows, thirds, odd/even, black/red only. There are pair- or quad-bets. All bets are reserved until after the roulette number is chosen. After 30 seconds of betting, the ball is spun, and the casino pays out or collects.
Requirements: Very good at eScript. Must know, or learn, the rules of roulette.
Additional assets required: roulette table art. I can get these assets from my artists without problem.

Black Jack: Its one-on-one blackjack with a dealer. Bets are reserved, and winnings payed out after the hands. Not a whole lot to explain.
Requirements: Good at eScript. Must know, or learn, the rules of black jack.
Additional assets required: Graphics for playing cards, easily obtainable, or one of the artists can whip up a deck in about an hour. Perhaps a custom "black jack table" item to place in the game room.
