[OFF-TOPIC] Shards Online, a fully customizable UO sucessor

Post by fernandocoelho »

Hi all, have you seen the Kickstarter for Shards Online?
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/14 ... box-mmorpg

Gameplay Trailer - http://youtu.be/gIsB0vWqbRI

A bunch of guys from UO are on the project, the main thing is that they'll make sure admins have total control of their own servers, much like the emulation scene, with scripting capabilities in LUA.

Even Giant deers are a possibilty.

So, are you guys going to back it up? The alpha starts in December 2014, according to the devs.

PS: Not affiliated with the devs, just a fan ;]

Seen the preview, think its great, but still have my doubts.
How much customization can we do?
How much control do we have?
Do we really have ultimate control?

I have checked out the website, I see there is a $30 membership with optional premium membership costs. So far, this has great graphics, and thats about it. Would be nice if they had a demo shard up and running where we could play around on it and do things that they advertised.

I didn't get into World of Warcraft because you had to pay and some people told its not what it seems. I am hoping that Shards does not end up like WoW, lots of graphics but no storyline or content.

From the talks of it, they're opening a demo shard next week on the pre-alpha build so people can test. ;]
