Yes. That is unfortunate. I agree. That's why I think for the very important questions it would be nice if there were a "Keeper of the Chronicles" that could collect those posts as they are answered and just add them to one HTML page and just keep appending that making it available to sear...

Yes. I agree about RunUO. I halfway think there must be some money behind that team pushing them forward. What I would love to see are some of the tools that have been developed for that emu created for POL. In particular the architect and land design proggies. Anyway, POL 96 is right around the cor...

I am not a board admin on these forums but I have run my own for some time and I think I can safely say that since the old accounts could not be retrieved so is the same for the old posts. All posts are linked to the accounts. They are gone most likely. The problem has to do with the way the databas...

That's a good idea. I think the devs have tried to keep the emulator as secure as possible so that might create a possible exploit for hackers though. It would be up to the shard developers to be the watchdogs to make sure that they didn't use any script - exe combinations that might be dangerous. Y...

Ahem..

Please refrain from knocking ideas. This is a "suggestion" forum after all.

Besides the idea wpuld add versatility to the emulator. And POL is known for its versatility.

Well, as I understand a magic bag of holding from my "D&D days" is that you could drop things into it without it adding to the weight you are carrying. My concept would apply to items only and not those of type container. Not sure if POL could do a check for this. The oninsert script w...

I forgot about this file. You'll need it to enable the package. Save as pkg.cfg to the same folder with the other items. Oh and by the way it seems that Sigismund did write this script. I excised it from his package called questtools. Enabled 1 Name Censor Version 0.1 Maintainer Sigismund Email pros...

Aasan Dar I have a script that does something similar to what you want. I do not know whom to credit with the writing of it but it's called Censor. I looked through the Distro scripts and couldn't find it. It is on our shard, Hope Lives, and what it does is turn the player to a slime of a random col...

If I understand what you want to do I think you would still have to perform a server restart even if you could create the npcdesc.cfg file from within POL. Technically speaking it is possible to unload.cfg a npcdesc file. I've done it after adding an NPC but the added NPC didn't create. I didn't get...

Read / Write on weight of items

I would like to propose that the devs consider making the weight propertiy of items read/write instead of read only.

This would facilitate new avenues of magical items. An example of one such item is a magic bag of holding.

That's not a bad idea. Like when mana reaches zero you die. Could be like a set of flags. Might look something like this // Flags to check for death on certain stats ChecDeathStr 1 // a 1 means watch this stat a 0 means ignore this stat CheckDeathSta 1 CheckDeathMan 1 DeathWhenStr 0 //sets the level...

I can see both sides and I agree that it is important to have folks be able to get a grasp of eScript quickly but I also know, from personal experience, how hard it is to go from unstructured "free style" programming to a structured approach. One thing that structured programming does fopr...

Posts gone? Hmm... Hadn't noticed. Seriously I understand board wipes. They're hard. We been through several on my site. None lately. And yes, thanks to the devs for volunteering their time on POL. I assume that the problems you were having here related to PHPNuke's vulnerabilities. *shivers* So I m...

Oh yes. One more thing. Melanius, I understand your concerns about ease of use but syntax is not always the key to ease of use. One of the biggest complaints I hear about POL is that scripts are so hard to follow because of the includes and how deep they go. Anyone who has tried to follow a hitscrip...

Here is what I remember from Pascal as syntax for typed variables. MyString : string; // Dynamic length string variable. Max length for asll strings was 255 chars I think MyFixedString : string[20]; // Fixed length of 20 chars. Pascal used the zeroth pos to store string length MyInt : integer; // In...
