Re: Pol098 and upcoming update of PolServer Community.
Things worked kinda well with 096 + 097. Having subreleases (.1, .2, ...) is a great way to support older core while developing new one (beta, release candidate) to motivated testers to play with. I cannot see a reason to do otherwise, but alas, it's not my decision. When it comes to distro, there a...

POL and Linux
I know there are some pollers on penguin already, so tell me, and others interested... What there is to think about before trying to run POL on Linux? How possible it really is? First of all, I'm thinking, what distribution should be used - Gentoo is well supported, I quess, but does that mean using...

Re: Bring out your bugs
These I didn't see fixed just yet: UO::SendPacket() UO expansion AOS and empty spellbook DestroyItem() fails: "That item is 'gotten'." I did not read thru the whole 097 bug reports forum, just took a few posts I *know* are valid and somewhat important ones. On the other hand, the coming co...

Re: Stats Mod information!
If you mean the text itself, it is shown by client when server sends updated skill or stat information. To not show the text at all, you'd have to either modify client (maybe emptied cliloc is enough, I do not know) or stop sending the skill information. Latter would of course make the client's skil...

Re: Item.layer only works for items (once) equipped (POL 097)
Okay, then... Is there a reason not to switch the internal way to use .container property, as it tells for sure if item is equipped by mobile (returns a reference if it is)? That way .layer could be, if possible and there is a motivation to do so, changed to return the correct layer value every time?

Re: Item.layer only works for items (once) equipped (POL 097)
No it isn't, but then again, is a non-working hardly fixable feature worth keeping in the core? I don't know, but until it works, it's better to use the mentioned tiles.cfg method.

Re: Search for a Scripter
Yet another side note, recompiling all stuff can be done using ecompile with f-flag ("ecompile -f"), which forces the operation even when source file itself hasn't changed. It's often faster than searching and deleting every .ecl file.

Re: Help me Mcspawn.inc
You will want to add "use uo;" on top of the file, if it isn't stated in the sourcefile or any other includes it has. That's to make sure eCompile found the function you are trying to use. edit: The function CountExisting is a proper one and compiles without errors when I tried, so the err...

Re: CSS
You could try describing the problem more clearily, so I (and others) wouldn't have to debug e.g. what is the name of the container you want to modify etc. Anyways, if I understood and read correctly, I suggest you to modify #liners to look like this: It may need polishing with float statement, this...

What do you mean by setting layer? Wasn't sure so I tried two ways. 1. Defining layer in itemdesc.cfg element 2. Trying to set layer in game using .setprop-command Neither way made a correct value readable without equipping the item first. Of course layer is r/o value so it cannot be changed / tryin...

Even if no-one is now willing to dedicate to help you out, don't give up! Scripting isn't hard thing to learn and forum is an excellent place to ask questions. Upgrading scripts to work on a new core, especially 095->096, is not the easiest thing to begin the learning with, but there are many who ha...

Empty book's title and author is 0
Very minor stuff, just accidentally ran across: empty book's title and author is "0" instead of being empty. Codewise it is be caused by book methodscript's function GetInfo (or better, the usage of it), in where various book related info is searched from datafiles, cprops and itemdesc.cfg...

New datafile features
Couple of things that could be better. 1. Non-saved datafiles Because of its nature, datafile is more practical datastore than, say, global property. When storing temporary stuff, it would be useful and more efficient save time wisely, if scripter could somehow set the datafile non-saveble. Like cpr...

If by haxing you did mean modifying the game exe, I dare to suggest yet another method: art editing. a .command only passes 2 parameters. Close, but not quite.
