Re: Queued Data Mode

Theres no way to detect this. The messages and the process that detects and generates this message isnt accessible from scripts. Queued data mode is more of a symptom than a cause of any problem.

Re: Stack packet

The drop item packet (0x08) handles stacking. Here's most of what you need right here... use uo; use os; use cfgfile; var config := ReadConfigFile("::tiles"); program drag() return 1; endprogram exported function dropping(who, byref packet) var dropserial := packet.GetInt32(10); if ( dropserial != 0...

technically yes but technically no... the question I have for you is why would you have to FindSubstance on an item that you already found and have a reference to?

Re: Queued Data Mode

from the looks of it, it kept reporting that only client #1220 was going in and out of queued data mode. It could be that one specific person is having connection problems of their own or may be connecting from the other side of the planet and just has a bit of lag. This does not hurt your server wh...

Re: Custom weapon stacking on insert

That would be the problem then. This would probably have to be brought up to those who are experienced at developing the POL core. And unfortunately, any fixes would only be applied to 099.

try the changing it from weapon to item in the itemdesc.cfg.

Also another thing to try, try splitting a stack and recombining it.

Re: Custom weapon stacking on insert

ya it's definitely POL doing it. What I was figuring was that the client was the one saying it's not stackable so when it sent the 0x08 packet, it would be formed in a way to not stack. By the looks of the packet though, this is not the case. The server is definitely rejecting it for some reason. if...

Re: Custom weapon stacking on insert

Do this... Create three stacks of something that is usually stackable (maybe arrows or something) and three stacks of the shurikens. Have one stack of both items in your backpack and the other two stacks of both items outside on the ground next to you. Once you have yourself completely set up for th...

Re: PaperDoll problems

Is the robe an item that you can remove or is it seemingly permanent? Your character can be the GM graphic which permanently has the robe on. You'll have to change your character's graphic to the male or female graphic to remove it.

Re: Restarting Server

You compile the script as usual and then use Unload_Scripts() within a textcmd or something else to unload it but this will not stop or restart a script that is already running or constantly running. This will only affect future calls to run the script.

Re: Staff Hiding Stone?

It should be available to you. In the 099 distro, it's in pkg/commands/coun. As long as you're counselor or higher it should work. Did it compile? (is there a conceal.ecl file there?)

Re: Staff Hiding Stone?

What type of functionality are you looking for? I've never used RunUO so I don't know what a hiding stone does. Are you trying to make staff members invisible to players? That's typically a command .conceal or .concealme depending on your scriptbase.

Switching to queued data mode is what happens when POL can't immediately send data to the client fast enough because the connection is congested (lag).

Re: system load wirdness

Well, it is important to remedy the sysload if it is constantly at 70-80% because then your shard is vulnerable to lagging. How you fix it depends entirely on what scripts are processing the most instructions. If it's AI that is consistently running a high amount of instructions, maybe you have to l...

Not sure if that has anything to do with skillgain or not. This depends entirely on your scriptbase so a start would be to tell us what scriptbase you're using.

Re: Custom property in itemdesc.cfg?

Really it depends on how much you're using this member and this item. Sure it's slower than GetObjProperty() (but really, this isn't noticeable unless you want to do it a thousand times per second) but if you set a custom CProp, just remember, a CProp takes more memory since it has to be stored in m...

Re: Problem starting POL

I believe Austin elaborated on this before when they initially branched off uo.em into multiple .em files. I believe it had something to do with making POL faster since it didn't have to search through as many functions to find the specific core function you're running. Although with how powerful co...

Re: NPC Creation

Its true that it makes life easier to add stuff like that into .em files but if/when the .em files changes you have to modify them manually. We could add a custom.em without any hardcoded constants or core functions to be a file to use instead of includes I know its still a bit of an old topic. Hop...

'use' shouldn't be used in includes. Only in sources. It drives me insane to see a 'use x;' in a .inc file.

Re: Starting POL 099 - the long way made short

Been a while since I've been around so I'm catching up. Just something to say from experience, once your shard is running and people are logging in, do NOT leave the setting: AssertionFailureAction=continue This can cause gigantic problems while your shard is running because even though its set to c...

Re: Where do I find a listing of what commands POL uses?

Depends entirely on what scriptbase you use. You can create and remove commands as you please. Search your POL path for any folders named txtcmd or commands. Inside those folders are folders that correspond to the cmdlevel (player, counselor, seer, gm, admin, dev/test). Each .ecl file in those folde...

Found it. I'm not sure why (probably packet changes), you need Razor to log in with anything beyond 4.0.4 with POL 095.

I only put that in there to stop people from hotlinking. ...
