Re: Hard typing
I tend to agree; typeless variables is a design feature of the language, used to extend usability and functionality. That's what high-level languages are supposed to do. :) If the script he was writing was so buggy that type-checking was a major problem, then I think you'd be better off finding some...

Re: Original OSI type shard?
It is entirely possible, however I do not know anyone with public script-bases that are currently running that shard model.

Sounds like what happens when Stamina or Max Stamina is set to 1 on the character.

Re: Official Distro Shard?
Well, I can speak from experience in saying that POL is extremely flexible, allowing me to do things that many people thought impossible while still using a UO client.

Re: Question regarding smoothness of animations
So the server actually determines the framerate of the animations in the core? I'd never heard of that. I wonder why they'd ever want that option.

Re: Question regarding smoothness of animations
Playing animations is all client side, and play at a set 10 frames per second, I believe. Nothing server-side changes animation play speed, so I can think of no reason why any server would play animations any "smoother" than any other, regardless of the technology behind it. The only reaso...

Re: Musicianship
Sounds like a good alternative. If that's all peacemaking is, I suppose you could remake the EVID_PEACEMAKE that puts the script into something like: var now := ReadGameClock(); while(ReadGameClock - now < 15) var ev := Wait_For_Event(15); if(ev.type == /* damaged, engaged, whatever */) break; endif...

Re: Ecompile
1) You'll need to configure that registry key to match your system. You'll want to fix the path to be the real path of your ecompile, and you'll probably want to change the compilation flags as well. 2) Some flags that you define in your ecompile config will render compile-a-single-script impossible...

Re: Musicianship
I haven't yet delved into BrainAI, so I'm mostly speaking out of ignorance: how much trouble would it be to put back in EVID_PEACEMADE and integrate it into the existing AI routine?

Re: money system and various coins
I'd love to hear some of your "impossible" spell ideas. I've been wracking my brain to do things that no one's ever seen on a UO emulator before; a few more wouldn't hurt.

Edit to fit your needs, install the key, and you should be good to go.
Code: Select all

I posted my old Musicianship scripts as well. Compared to Taming, they're pretty simple, and look much cleaner.

I promise to keep it as original as possible, except I may create a configuration file tog...

Re: Which bugs are really there?
A bug tracker would surely be a nice addition. Even if it's just for the devs to show that something is happening. :P But I think we can live with another board only for "Solved" problems. Luth, could you please create it? Of course, if it'll help keep things organized. :) Keep up the gre...
