Hello,
I have several questions regarding shard status here on website using internal POL webserver:
Do I need to have this on standard port (80), or I can use any?
Can I use https (via reverse proxy for example...)?
From which IP comes query (I would like to limit access to this ip only)?
Does ...

Re: Not able to login from local network
Is there somewhere documentation, how this sharding works technically? I am in game alone, players are in different shard. What is happening technicaly? Does it run on different thread? Does this second shard have own instances of all NPCs? What happens during world save? Etc....Thanks.

Re: Not able to login from local network
Thanks, it works! I was also thinking to put server into separate vlan, this probably should help too, but it requires redesign of whole network
NAT reflection didnt work.

Not able to login from local network
I have server on local network (POL 97), connecting with classic UO. I can easily authorize, but it hangs on "logging in to shard". When I take this PC and connect from internet (through NAT), everything works. Any ideas? Thanks!

Re: Orion Client and Orion Assistant package.
We are waiting on the Orion developers to help us in determining a way to send a query to any client logging in which the Orion client would use to identify itself. If we can do that then we would only send the feature disable packet to the Orion client and thus solve our problem.

Increase map size question
Hello,
AFAIK current largest supported map size is 7168 x 4096. I am just curious, how hard would be to increase this limit? Obviously it would require significant changes on client, but my question is from the server point of view. Would it require some serious refactoring of server systems, or ...

The newest release is one big surprise. There was much more changes, than is written in change.log, so since release, we are still discovering, how much things stopped working and why.

You can have some firewalls/packet filters to filter some more specific kinds of DOS attacks (usually using some "bugs" in protocol design). But if attacker is just flooding and has enough of bandtwich, there is NOTHING, you can do. Even if you are discarding such packets, they are blocking your ...

Brain AI
Anyone using brain AI in larger scale? According to same tests, we have suspictions, that this AI is many times slower then "normal" AI. Theory is that it is because of slow handling of sending events by POL (brain AI sends events much more). We will probably make some other tests to test this teory ...

Well, cave bug is bug, when you are in cave and trying to put something on the floor. Server thinks, that floor is not that floor made from statics, but ceeling (map0) of that cave and it caused troubles. Solution was to have special server side map, where were caves without ceelings, only statics ...

[changed] ids > 1023, animations
Currently we cant use higher ids > 1023 (anim2.mul, anim3......). Even with UOFeatures on.
Only chance is to remap theese ids in client data using bcd and that is lots of wasted work (and we are limited too).

Is there ANY reason, why not put POL open source?
If you look for example at run UO, it overrun every emulator project in few years. Now run UO is the best emulator. Few years ago it was not usable at all. Open source development is very fast in theese cases.
