Re: UOFiddler (ex UOViewer) (ex InsideUO alternative)

I love this thing, even if a lot of it is counterintuitive (I had to have Dib explain how to change item graphics- maybe have "Replace" say "Replace Graphic" or something?), but I have one question- what's the difference between "Save Changes" and "Save TileData&qu...

Belated replies, but: IIRC he was not the author of Hand of Dundee, but rather it was named after him. He was behind the World of Dreams shard and codebase initially.

In Memorandum: Dundee

Today I got word that Jeff Freeman, who some here who have been a part of POL for long enough will remember as Dundee, passed away this weekend. According to posts made by his brother, he took his own life. He was a huge part of my early POL experience. He is one of the people responsible for what I...

Are the POL map data file formats documented anywhere?
I honestly don't know, and I've promised Luth I'll try to find out. I mean, they can be reverse engineered from the uoconvert source code, but that's no fun.

Re: No applicable servers for client connecting from

Nah, it's better if there are a few threads in here that are either not real bugs or fixed. Makes us feel like we're less of failures. ;)

Re: Integrated Static Tool

I would love to see a way to do map modification in POL, personally. Someone above said they didn't like the fact that we have to run UOConvert before a map is usable- the goal with that was to divorce ourselves from explicitly using UO's maps and map formats. POL can use pretty much any map format....

Re: EvalInt script patch. Was checking against wrong attribute.

Yes, it's being read. Again, for the record, that patch has been applied. A random request for future patches in this forum- if you can give the full path to the file to be patched, that'd be shiny. Not like it was hard to find EvalInt, but at some point someone's going to patch pkg.cfg or something...

Re: Madman's Features list

As an aside, I'm behind on updating this, but I haven't abandoned it or anything. Just a few suggestions came through when I was either in a hurry or I wasn't sure the merit of the suggestion, and so I procrastinated on adding them, and now I'm all behind. :)

Re: Distro is Distro not just any shard's scriptbase

It might be interesting to note that when we first started making a "distro" (a project that I was originally heading many many years ago) we called it the "default distro". :)

At some point when I have time I'll try to compile a list of the bugs in this forum. So hopefully we'll get to this one.

Re: Item.layer only works for items (once) equipped (POL 097)

Ah, I know what my mistake was on layer- I was (strangely enough!) confusing it with Facing when I said that- specifically facing's weird overloading where it also stores the light type for an object. You are correct that layer is r/o and so ignore what I said about setting it, I was on crack. Now t...

You'd think that'd be easy to fix. Maybe I'll try kicking people until someone gets to it.

Or maybe I could try. Muahahaha.

Anyway, yeah, should be fixable.

Hate to resurrect a thread a month and a half later just to say that I don't know, but I don't know. Does it happen with something that is normally defined as a weapon? (Like an axe, when used to chop down a tree?) Or just if you're doing so with something that you changed the definition of to be a ...

Interesting. I think you are wrong in one very minor detail- I think if you set the items layer, it remains set even if it was never equipped. But that is a mostly useless distinction.

It's possible that we could use a larger variable type for that. Would slightly increase overall memory usage but probably barely noticeably. Anyone else want to see this? On one hand, a limit of 300/minute is a bit low if you have highly elevated hp counts on your NPCs. On the other hand, if the is...

Actually, applied it with one minor change- the original code had a CStr which yours eliminated. I don't know for certain whether your removal was deliberate, so I modified the return statements to be

return CStr(author);

etc. I figure it can't hurt.
