Re: Question Regarding Seasons (Winter Tiles)
Ah, thanks. So there is no way to edit it, or perhaps to download a better version for the main map?

Question Regarding Seasons (Winter Tiles)
I was wondering how the seasons work, if they are part of the actual map files, or function in some other manner. I am running a modified 0.95 Distro with a .098 Core, and using only the original Britannia map. The seasons all look great, except for winter, which is somewhat spotty. It seems to use ...

Re: Question Regarding Skills Design
Lucky you!
Some work done so far with distro099 are quite not far from what you are seeking so you can easily see how systems are inter-reliated and modify on your own if necessary.
The basics can be found in the pkg/systems/classes, pkg/items/equipment, pkg/systems/attributes, pkg/systems ...

Re: Question Regarding Skills Design
It shouldn't be hard. I started from scracth and look what I could accomplish! Ok it took me about 2 years but still ;). Dang, if time weren't missing I would have spend 5 other years just to accomplish THE PERFECT SERVER muahahaha. However, if you feel something is worth sharing go ahead man. This ...

Re: Question Regarding Skills Design
Ah, thank you! I will take a look. Modifying the existing class system might be more efficient than attempting such a system from scratch. At the very least I can hopefully garner some insight as to how the code works.
I will be using a Pol 0.95 Distro, which I think does not contain classes ...

Re: Revamping the Bard.
You can have the ambient music (an mp3) play during bard songs. The "practice" music that plays could be changed to be an mp3 song if you wish. Again you'd just tell the script to play an mp3 rather than the sound from the sounds.mul file. Most bard systems I have seen play the usual sound that we ...

Question Regarding Skills Design
I am attempting to design a sort of organic class system. I have nothing programmed at this point, and am merely brainstorming. Rather than assign a class upon character generation, I want to have raising certain primary skills lower all other incompatible skills. Additionally, if possible, I would ...

Re: Revamping the Bard.
UO Fiddler provides a way for importing a sound file into sounds.mul. Your sound file you wish to import needs to be in WAV format I think but I don't know what sample rate is required.
sounds.mul is a library file containing all of the sounds that are produced in game either by player characters ...

Re: Revamping the Bard.
You should have no problem with adding sounds to sounds.mul . I think that all bard tunes are in sounds.mul . The music files can be replaced but i think that client supports only limited amount of backround music files.
Ah, thank you for the information. Must the new music files be converted to ...

Revamping the Bard.
As mentioned earlier, I am extremely new to all of this. I am considering revamping the bard system, removing all of the original bard skills and replacing them with a sort of song spell system, one that works in conjunction with musicianship. I want to make the bard more of a fighter/support ...

Re: Newbie with a few questions...
Thank you for clarifying all of that. Far from being weird or confusing the sword explanation has given me some considerable food for thought. POL truly is a flexible system. You are quite correct in that I want a pared down foundation from which to start, but definitely want access to all of the ...

Re: Newbie with a few questions...
Thanks for the link, this will help immensely. You have convinced me to use POL instead of RunUo, and I am definitely even more excited about the project. I agree that jumping in is the best way to learn. Do you think I can develop the shard (though not actually host it) on a netbook (1.6 CPU, 1 G ...

You are welcome to #pol irc-channel in darkmyst.org server and make a chat with me (Damien/Robin) and I could provide help regarding questions about eScript and make some simple example-scripts for you :D

Re: Newbie with a few questions...
It is good to know that the gypsy feature and the virtue feature are doable. These are two of the primary features I wished to implement. Yes, as far as "stills" go, I was referring to including a series of pictures, perhaps after character creation, directly before the town selection gump, the ...

Implementing a version of the old Gypsy tarot card spread as part of character creation. Ideally this would feature during the character creation process itself as a series of stills with choices, more in keeping with the single player games, though I suspect it more likely ...

Newbie with a few questions...
Extreme Newbie here. Yukiko was kind enough answer some of my many, many questions, and point me in the direction of the Development Discussion board. I am in the very early stages of development, namely trying to decide if my plans for a shard are feasible, and, if so, whether POL or RunUO are ...

Re: Greetings! I have a few questions...
Currently there are only two map sizes for map0.mul (Felucca) that can be used; the original size - 6144 wide by 4096 high and the expanded Mondain's Legacy map - 7166 wide by 4096 high. POL does not support instancing or zoning so no problem there. The gate and recal magic can be disabled but ...

Archaaz,
