Re: Announcing the POL Configurator!

A new version of The POL Configurator is available.

Version 5.0.0.0 - When you load a profile, the POL settings for that profile will be loaded into the Configurator.

See original post for links.

Re: Mounts..

Thanks for the info about the ethereal ostard. We had the wrong graphic for it in our mounts.cfg. We did not have the serpentine dragon mount defined in our npcdesc.cfg file. That will be fixed as soon as I commit the update to that file. :) Here is our new npcdesc.cfg entry for the serpentine drago...

Bug Report: POL reading realm directory - see post for explanation.

This has cropped up before but I haven't reported it. Whilst we were trying to debug an issue ThisIsMe was having with the Ilshenar facet, I zipped up my Ilshenar realm data to send to him. After sending the ilshenar.7z file, I forgot to delete that file from the realm directory. Tonight I tried to ...

Important updates to the Distro.

I made some important updates, bug fixes, to the Modern Distro. Mostly fixing a bug when moving or creating objects in "off-map" (locations where players will not see) areas. Some scripts assumed the map to be Felucca (realm britannia) or Trammel (realm britannia_alt). The locations chosen in those ...

Re: The Official POL Distro Test Server.

It took me awhile but the Test Server is now updated to the latest Distro "version". I put version in quotes because we do not have a versioning system for the Distro but the files are current as of the date of this post.

I forgot one important thing. The sources of fire that can be lit by using them, must be lit in order to cook near them.

Updates to cooking.

I have added a few more items that can be made, Gingerbread cookies, hamburgers, and hotdogs to name a few. Tc craft some of these items I added some new items, dried herbs for example. As there is yet no way to create dried herbs, and some other items needed for a few of the ingredients, those new ...

Updating the gmtools package.

I am currently working on the `gmtools` package to clean-up, upgrade and, somewhat, modernize it for the Modern Distro. I need some help with understanding the use case for some of the scripts in the package. Here is a list of the scripts and my questions about them: cursed.src - appears to be a scr...

I have been working on the GM Tools (gmtools pkg).

The gmtools package has been in the official POL Distro since, at least, POL Core version 092. The official Distro has had many new packages added to it since then, some of which needed to be integrated into gmtools. Plus, gmtools needed a "facelift". No offense to the creator of the package but the...

I think I've finished integrating the mounts package into the Modern Distro. Please let me know if you encounter any issues with mounts. I suppose I should remind everyone that the Modern Distro is a work in progress . Bug fixes and improvements are added as needed. Now that I have a bug tester (Tha...

Mounts package integration.

The mounts package has been in the Distro for some time. ThisIsMe contributed it. But it was never integrated into tamed.src, chrdeath.src and dblclickself.src. It just sat there unused. Well, ThisIsMe and I worked on it, and now those scripts I mentioned use the mounts package. I am certain there a...

Crafting system update.

A big thank you to ThiIsMe for looking at crafting and fixing issues, and for fixing issues with scissors. I did write this tutorial for the Classic Distro. I haven't reviewed whether it will work for the Modern Distro. There might be incompatibilities between this tutorial and the Modern Distro.

Re: Setting up a Windows POL server. A tutorial.

A BIG warning about the .decoratefacets command, I took the information on world items from ServUO for the Mondain's Legacy maps. Unfortunately in later expansions of UO some locations were modified, Magincia in particular. This causes buildings and items in those locations to be placed incorrectly ...

Re: Setting up a Windows POL server. A tutorial.

The .destroy command will allow you to delete items from your world. I will try to write a tutorial in a few days on spawning your world. If you are using the Modern Distro there is some documentation in the /docs/Distro Documentation folder. Open the index.html fille. I have documented some of the ...

Re: I need some input on dyeable furniture, specifically bookshelves.

I personally think it looks weird... but that means that _I_ wouldn't dye my bookshelves. I don't think it hurts anyone to have them dyeable, but players would definitely gripe if it is _not_ dyeable. My two cents :) I do too. I suppose I could make them dyeable and leave it up to the players. On m...

So, I assume you would say "yes" to being able to dye bookshelves.

Does anyone else care to share your opinion? The Distro is a community effort after all.

I need some input on dyeable furniture, specifically bookshelves.

I am fixing and updating the furniture dye tub script and furniture that can be dyed. The issue of dying furniture didn't pose a problem until it came to bookshelves. First, let me explain how the bookshelves work in the Distro. When a book is put in an empty bookshelf, the OnInsert script is suppos...

I am told this is due to the tiledata.mul setting for bar parts. in the tiledata.mul file their surface flag is not set.
