Re: Announcing the POL Configurator!

I wish I knew more about the Linux OS because Lazarus is cross platform but the calls to external functions such as executing external programs are different. Also, the MUL extractor would not work without modifying the source because it is Windows specific. Can't you run the Configurator under Wine?

Announcing the POL Configurator version 3.0.0.0!

I have completed version 3.0.0.0 of the POL Configurator. This version adds servers.cfg and uoclient.cfg to the list of files it supports. There is also a UI redesign, a minor one but a redesign non-the-less. I expanded the interface on the right side. I moved the Test Launch POL and Run POL buttons...

Re: How to add new wood types to the Classic Distro.

Thank you for your kind words Ciechu. Perhaps the developers can add tutorials from the forums to the documents. The truth is I have wanted to write this type of tutorial for a long time. When I started playing UO back in 2002 I played on a shard, Journey's End, and it had custom wood and ore types....

How to add new wood types to the Classic Distro.

Recently I was asked, in Discordance, how to add different wood types to the Classic Distro. I told the individual it was something that required a tutorial because it is not a simple thing to do. I said as soon as I had the time I would write one. Well, here it is. The first thing I did when I adde...

Let me second Pumpkins in welcoming you Karavoc. I am not a zombie fan but I do enjoy the Walking Dead for the character interaction.

Re: A new Core build is up. 11-27-2018

It is handled the same way it is handled for NPCs. Look at an NPC AI script, a hostile NPC in particular, and follow the same pattern used in that script.

A new Core build is up. 11-27-2018

Hot on the heels of the last Core update we have another new Core build. This one adds entered area events to items. Hah! No longer do NPCs have this event! They have been the sole possessor of it long enough! Thank you Nando! The latest from the core-changes.txt: -- POL100 -- 11-27-2018 Nando: Adde...

Re: .unloadcfg - There is possible, now?

Good to know Austin. Unloading the npcdesc.cfg never worked quite right when I tried it before but that was pre 096. Maybe something was changed in the Core since then. Will unloading npcdesc.cfg or itemdesc.cfg and reloading them make new NPCs and/or items added prior to the unload/reload sequence ...

A new Core build is up. 11-26-2018

A new Core build is fresh out of the oven! This build has two new functions: ListObjectsInBoxOfClass( POL_Class, x1, y1, z1, x2, y2, z2, realm := _DEFAULT_REALM ); ListItemsInBoxOfObjType( objtype, x1,y1,z1, x2,y2,z2, realm := _DEFAULT_REALM ); From the core-changes.txt: 11-25-2018 Yukiko: Changed: ...

Re: .unloadcfg - There is possible, now?

You cannot unload/reload itemdesc.cfg and npcdesc.cfg files. I suspect it is because doing so would require refreshing (removing and recreating) all items and NPCs in the world.

Re: Item decay control script?

I am happy to help. It would be nice if decay was performed by the scripts. The problem is that searching the entire map of each facet using eScript programmes (scripts) is slower than the Core doing it. With the sys hook that ThisIsMe mentioned you have a little more control over the decay system. ...

Re: Item decay control script?

Item decay is handled by the Core. It is more efficient than having eScript programmes scan through all of the facets (realms) for items. But you have some control over it with settings in /config/servespecopt.cfg and in programmes (scripts) by setting the DecayTime and DecaysOnMultis members on an ...

Another new UO module function - ListObjectsInBoxByPolClass

I think this could be a useful function as well:

Code: Select all

ListObjectsInBoxByPolClass( x1, y1, z1,  x2 ,y2, z2, class, realm := _DEFAULT_REALM )
The function is pretty self explanatory I think.

A new UO module function ListItemsInBoxByObjType

This came to me as I was helping someone to create a programme (script) to search the map for a particular item. It seems to me, when searching a large area, that being able to specify the exact ObjType when searching would reduce the amount of memory used by the created array. So here is my propose...

I have that thread bookmarked because at some point I want to try to implement Custom Houses. I did not comprehend everything Terciob listed in that post. He did not supply a complete set of scripts. Hopefully someone has created a Custom Housing system and will share it with the POL community.

Yeah. We, my son and I, are aware of Ultima Live. That is what my son is looking at for the necessary packet info for being able to do some of the things such as changing trees to stumps etc. ServUO and RunUO are a great source of information. I am not sure why the POL Core developers do not use it ...

Re: Spawnpoint - spawn creature on server starts

It looks as if the delay in spawning is the CProps MinDelay and MaxDelay for each spawnpoint. I would check those values. At first I thought the delay might be in the spawnPointControl script at startup. I suspected that script might pick a random delay to start spawning the NPCs so as to avoid exce...
