The starthere batch files

The "copy UO files" option does not overwrite existing files. I don't know if this is intentional or not but it did cause some problems after updating the UO client and recopying or trying to recopy the files over to \MUL. Also, I think we should add an optional option to the eCompile menu that stop...

Re: I have started moving posts referencing old "Distros".

Yes. That's right. We do have the "Complete Wotlds" forum. I am not moving anything from there unless it specifically has a topic name about an official POL Distro and I haven't seen any. :)

Re: A proposal for including the downloadable documentation in the Distro repo

After some discussion on Discord I have decided that I will not include the offline downloadable docs in the repo. I will however place them in the Distro zip and installer files. I will be posting those files soon. Check the Downloads page occasionally for their availability.

Re: Distro versioning.

After talking to Nando I have decided to use the current Core version with the date appended to that as a versioning number for the Distro zip and installer files. As it doesn't get updated very quickly that will do an adequate job for now. We will not be versioning the repo.

Re: I have a question about the CoreHandledTags setting in servspecopt.cfg

From the servspecopt.cfg file comments: # bitfield to determine which tags are displayed on singleclick, current used bits are: # 0x1 [title_guild] # 0x2 [frozen] # 0x4 [paralyzed] # 0x8 [squelched] # 0x10 [deafened] However single click doesn't seem to display them. They are visible as you approach...

Re: Newest Core builds are up.

I am using Visual Studio 2015 Community edition but I build it using the buildDistWin.bat file in the pol-core subdirectory of the polserver main directory. I'm not sure what you mean by patch level. Are you talking about the Visual Studio patch level or the POL Core patch level?

I am sorry Dev for letting my frustration with the unnecessary complexity of getting POL up and running get directed at you. Please accept my apology.

Re: Distro versioning.

You make some good points. Though I have to take issue with the "open source code" not having version numbers or maybe not needing a version number. The very emulator eScript runs on is open source and it has a version number. I have seen other open source projects that have version numbers. Lazarus...

Re: I have started moving posts referencing old "Distros".

That when someone releases a "complete world" release they should have the ability to create a sub forum for their complete world release for support? Unfortunately usually people just post them and the original poster goes away. Most of the time they add a line saying something like "I can't suppor...

Distro versioning.

I would like to add version numbering to the Distro. It would take the form of a major version number and a minor version number. I am thinking something like MMM.mm where "M" is the major part and "m" is the minor part, 0.99.01 for example. I have a few questions though. What constitutes a minor ve...

Re: A proposal for including the downloadable documentation in the Distro repo

Thank you Edwards!

Well, I guess there are no objections to my proposal. I will add the unzipped downloadable docs in an upcoming commit.

I have started moving posts referencing old "Distros".

You will notice a new forum for old Distros. I am going to try and "clean-up" the forums by moving posts referencing old versions to that forum. It's a big job and will take time.So if you are looking for a post and it isn't where you remembered it was, check the old Distro forum.

Re: Question on POL99 Distro

If that folder exists then you are probably using a different distro than the current release, perhaps the old Edwards version or one of the previous POL Distros released for POL 0.97 or 0.98

A proposal for including the downloadable documentation in the Distro repo

First I want to thank Turley for adding a cron job to the website that will keep our downloadable documentation up to date. In fact let me express a general thanks to him for all the help he has been to me with my personal project I have been working on. I don't want to leave the other Core and Dist...

Re: Question on POL99 Distro

It sounds like you're using a race package that is trying to find attributes.inc in the attributes pkg. You can solve this problem by copying the attributes.inc file from \Distro\scripts\include to the attributes pkg. Create a folder named attributes in the \Distro\pkg\systems folder. next open the ...

Re: I have a question about the CoreHandledTags setting in servspecopt.cfg

Ok. I'll handle it the way it is since I just debugged that in my Configurator. I just need to put in some missing "hints" and I should be finished with the current version. Now all I need are some testers to double check its operation.

Some questions about settings in the cfg files.

I am providing hints to the various config file settings in my program and I need a little help from the developers. I couldn't find adequate documentation on a few settings. What do the following settings do and what are the advantages to having them set or not set? In pol.cfg SingleThreadDecay Thr...

The downloadable documentation.

How does the downloadable documentation get "compiled"? Can I do it locally from my copy of the repo?
I ask because it doesn't match with the online docs.

Also, is there some way that the ZIP file of the downloadable docs can be placed in the builds that the buildDistWin batch file creates?

I have a question about the CoreHandledTags setting in servspecopt.cfg

As there are only five tags that can be displayed in game the value of setting all five bits corresponding to the five tags is 0x1A. The default value listed in the docs however is 0xFFFF for all tags to be displayed. I am curious if there is some client requirement for the additional eleven bits? I...

Newest Core builds are up.

These Core builds have a minor fix to the NoDrop property added on 2017-09-10. The build date for these are 2017-09-11 for Windows and 2017-09-12 for the CentOS version. I have to apologize for the erroneous date posted for the 2017-09-10 builds. Somehow the date in the linked text was 2017-09-30 fo...

Re: Adding New Status Mods

Looking at the POL object class hierarchy you are correct that NPCs inherit from characters so no way currently to prevent that but other than taking up extra memory I don't see any disadvantages to NPCs having the new additions. I could be wrong though. I often am. :)
