Re: MUL Python Module

I'll have to look around for it, it's in one of my local repos. I'll let you know, but not sure in what state it was left back then.

That's a job for code completion/omni completion/intellisense, or whatever everybody likes calling it.

Re: POL Launcher

I tried running it through mono (1.2.6), and it works... Linux users rejoice!

Austin has hardcoded some stuff in there, but make sure to try it out, and report any issues so he can work on them (for the right amount of beer that is).

Since the client is Open Source what is to prevent someone else picking up where they left off, assuming they are not currently developing it? Nothing actually :) I just brought up the donation issue, 'cause having DarkStorm working on it again would be faster than someone else picking up the devel...

Isn't there some way to convince one of our excellent programmers out there to write a 2D client? That would make customization easier. I'd pay for a good 2D client. One of the stipulations would be that it use the mul files we are all familiar with. That way we could use all the normal tools that ...

I've seen this happening on OSI, but only when an attribute is +/- by a bonus and not the physical value (ie: spell/item).

Haven't tried it yet, but great to see someone working on a POL eScript editor.

Keep it up ELSoft.

Well yeah, 3 years of development are a bit too much for a project of this scope. But now that things are back on track, I think we can follow the path of big projects in maintaining 2 branches (don't mind the naming used below) Stable: 096, Development: 097. API/ABI breaking and introduction of new...

Yukiko, I think you missed my point entirely here. I understand your concern but I tried to explain you the reasons to think out of the POL box. If the main issue is moving a scriptbase from := to = I can assure you it can be done with a simple regex python/perl script way too easy, there's nothing ...

I understand you worrying Yukiko, but moving := to = will make it easier for newcomers and I didn't say change it now, rather have a version to deprecate it and change it in 098, not a minor version such as 096.4 or 097.2. I read your reply on http://forums.polserver.com/viewtopic.php?t=491 and I do...

Since 095 deprecated the equal sign for equality and switched to == for it, maybe we should consider using = to deprecate := for assignment.

Yukiko, the reason that parts of the development distro doesn't compile is that we allow it continue compilation even though some scripts fail to compile at that point. The reason is, that the development focuses on major rewrites and feature additions, so we can't be caught up with stuff that are i...

It means that it will allow you to read the file contents.

From that point, one could write an actual app that would allow you to modify the files themselves, as the module allows you to access the file structure.

MUL Python Module

The last few days I've been working on a Python lib to allow access to UO's format (MUL files). The code is in a private repository right now, but I will be uploading it to POL's repository soon, so you can check it out. I'd like to hear some input on what kind of things you'd want the lib to allow ...

Indeed it would be nice to have such a feature. Though I'd prefer it to be a simple tool that does just that, and not integrate that kind of code into POL's core base.

Maybe a small just-do-this tool would be more handy/appropriate.

PGumpTool requires (1.1) .NET framework to work, and it written in C#. I'll see about uploading a compiled version here, but not in the repository, we only put source files over there. Edit: Forgot to mention, that nobody currently maintains that particular app. If anybody is up to the task message/...

Scott,

maybe at a flag option to let the core handle is 1/0,

If its set to 0, let the user do whatever he wants, onCreate script.

Maybe users could define the equipment in an array and iterate through it to control the "dressing" sequence.
