Re: Running 97 RC5 on UNIX - solution
It may be too late for you, but FYI I am running the latest core (compiled Sept 01 2008) on Debian Lenny.

Re: StartHere.sh / POLManager ( linux )
Hi,
When I the batch file I get the warning "- Some scripts are not compiled. Check them ASAP!". However as far as I can tell all the scripts compiled OK (there was some warnings but no errors). Just thought you might like to know.
BTW, Thanks for the script. I now can't live without it.

Re: smithy problem
Have you tried lookin in pol\pkg\skills\blacksmithy\makeBlacksmithItems.src ?
The last function "makeBlacksmithItems" contains a couple of "SubtractAmount" calls which reduces player resources. Is that what you were after?

Re: No applicable servers for client connecting from
Ah, yes the WAN section was incorrect. I fixed it and can login OK now. Thanks for the help. I guess this thread can be moved out of the core bugs section.

[not a bug] No applicable servers for client connecting from
I setup a new distro based of the September 01, 2008 core and Sept 02, 2008 scripts. If I run the server on Windows XP I can login OK. If I copy the directory onto a linux server (Debian) the client is unabble to login. The pol.log file says:
POL097-2008-09-01 Coregina (gentoo) compiled on Sep 1 ...

"I am not opposed to open source as a rule. It has its place but in the case of something like POL it does seem impracticle."
There are of course disadvantages of Pol being closed source:
1. Should the core developers decide, or be unable, to work on the core anymore we would still have an emu, but ...
