Whatever happened to the advertisement forum? Did you just decide not to include it this time around?

Hey there, Kwandobe; ltns!

For the record, I kinda like that there's no advertisement forum, myself :P

I was only asking because I am interested in some small package scripting for any shard that wants or needs someone who can produce a few packages a week or several fixes per week. I'm not looking for any npc scripting, I would rather create new spells, maybe some small time gump scripts and fix bugs.

If you know anyone, let me know.

Why not offer your help to the distro if it is only "small time" work you are wanting? We always have very little time for ALL the work we do, and the Distro is one thing that needs a lot of tender loving care and help.

If you, or anyone, is interested, just contact Austin. I am sure he could give you a few things to work on for it. I know of only 1 major thing needing redone according to the NEW distro look and feel (codewise), and that is the skill packages. Tek is working currently on the magery system, so that leaves most the others open.

Just a thought. Makes it nice for you to keep up scripting, and helps the community as a whole too. Nice way to give back. :)

I like the idea, except I don't like writing OSI style scripts. I hate OSI and I hate OSI clones. I like to create worlds, not create OSI.

Well duh :)

We take what we like, and expand it how we like, and see fit. Distro is FAR from an OSI clone :)

The distro is an attempt at an OSI clone yes, but so far everything done has been generic enough to fit any shard, custom roleplay (which most pol shards seem to be), osi clone, or pvp.

I have a sinking feeling, you havn't looked at a single 096/97 distro script, you should do so because its pretty groovy, let me tell you.

I agree with Austin. The 96/97 Distro is very nicely done so far. If my level of scripting was up to par with the level I see in the Distro I'd offer my help.

That's the thing isn't it? About the only exciting change I made to the distro was writing YesNoSmall for those smaller sized gump requirements. :)
The rest I would not want anyone to see for fear of embarrassment.

Well, that and the fact that there's a heck of a lot of relearning to do. The geography etc of the Distro has changed a lot and at 47 this dog is way too old to learn too many new tricks too fast.

The distro is fairly modular and organized. If you were to champion some small system or a few packages, you would likely not have to learn the entire distro, just the few scripts you're working with. In good, well organized code, development is easier.

Or you could just script NPCs all day :).
