If you are using POL 0.95 core I don't think auto account is possible from within POL. There might be a way to do it from a web based system though. You could have the player fill out a form and then have maybe a Perl script create it in the accounts.txt file. I can't help you with how to do that though because I have no experience with Perl etc.

But wouldn't one had to modify the accounts file while POL is down (/reboot it before). Core does not refresh data from files after the boot. And on world save it will turn overwrite what ever changes the target files had.

While some kind of auto account system for 095 is doable for sure, I say you shouldn't do it. Rather spend the time on script conversion and move onto 096 or even better, 097.

Well, account.txt refresh automatically if you change it, it is possible to write a .ecl file that is broadcasting HTML to the user trying to create an account so he will be able to connect...: Contact me. I'm familiar with this process and I could help you... Click my profile and send me a message with your email.

How useful is that!

Though 095 is no more supported, could you do a script release of the process? I don't really need it, but it's always nice to see contributors in action, no matter how obsolate the script/guide is. And I recall someone in the past asking the very same question, only that time, in vain.
