well, what i'll say now isnt a must, IT ISNT A MUST, but can help if you have time to spend.

learn other more used programming language, where you can find more detailed books for beginners, like pascal, C, C++.

so you can learn programming in a more detailed guide, book, etc, then, after learning it, come back to POL.

remembering it isnt a must, but can help you.

i think this can help because the eScript guide is quite straight, and i think this is great, i like that kind of guides, but for beginners it's kinda hard to understand (if you dont have ANY knowledge about programming i mean, nor a clue), and if you know how to program, learning other programming language, in the most cases, is easy, so learn other programming language that you can have more detailed guides, and then come back here and read the eScript guide, you'll see that you'll get it very quickly.

and, the best way to learn isnt by reading guide only, go and read code, as fast as you can begin to read code (of course it's good to know the basic, before going to read codes).

Learn By Doing, read codes and make codes, modify ones, dont download already done scripts from the internet without seeing how it works, if you can understand every script you download and begin to read, you'll learn more and more, faster and faster.

and have patience, you'll not learn from day to night, it can take some time

Start small.

Please don't download some huge scriptset like ZuluHotel for POL 0.93 and ask how to convert it to POL 0.96. I only say this because most of us started out trying to do something of the kind and it is frustrating for you the beginner because you don't have the knowledge to tackle such an enormous task.

Even some of us with programming knowledge from other languages came to POL and eScript as newbies simply because eScript and POL do things in their own way. So even knowing other programming langauges is not a guarantee that you'll be proficient at eScript from the start. Phao is correct in saying that it helps to have some knowledge of programming principles, though it isn't a must. I know a person who learned how to script at 15 years of age and he had no prior programming knowledge.

Ask questions on the forums if you are lost or need a hint or just want an explanation of why certain things are done a certain way.

Never be afraid to experiment with the code, make mistakes and learn from them.

But most of all, remember to have fun!!!
