Since OSI started patching the client to v6 I have read on other forums that a few things have broken, but I wasn't sure what it meant for POL.

I am embarking on a project to update all my clients to v6 BUT I am a little concerned about what is going to break.

For example, you can't run my v4.0.3 client on a client patched to 6.0.1.3. If you do, typing a dot will crash the client immediately, so obviously some things apart from artwork/animations are being patched.

Still trying to figure out what base install to use and whether a v6 client works on a base ML which came out as 4.0.11. You'd think not, but I have to try these things Smile

Anyone with some experience they can share with what clients work with what install and OSI patch? This sort of thing could be valuable to a lot of people.

I am running 6.0.1.6 on a development server right now and have not had any problems with anything other then what is not completed script wise. We are also using POL96 core with this right now.

Patch number 68 with ML. The install was the UO Gold edition and patched from there.

Excellent bit of news. Thanks.
I noticed speeh.mul is no longer stopping your typed text from appearing. How long has it been like that? I removed it ages ago never realising it could be usable again.

Since i think 6.0.1.7 there are some packet changes. E.g. packet 0x8 and packet 0x25 are one byte longer. The new last byte ist for UOKR use and is set to zero for the ML clients. So its better to stay before that version Smile

Thanks.
We just tried 6.0.1.9 and it wouldn't show the contents of containers.
We might look around for 6.0.1.6.
Seems like a good standard to use until pol itself is KR compatible.

By the way I am using rc3 as I am waiting to see if the devs respond to the issues with rc4.

Do you mean the issues i posted?
I think it is a problem that only occur on my windows home pc. I installed .NET 2.0 lately and deinstalled the 1.1 Framework. I think that's why i get these crashes with RC4 (also with RC3, which i hadn't before i changed the .NET framework).

I made tests on linux with RC4 (but without players) and it never crashed so far.

Are you on 096? They fixed that in POL during the 096 era. You can also use the speech.mul syshook.

Pierce, yes I had decided not to look at rc4 because of the crashing you posted about. Since there was no reply or update to the bug report I just never got around to trying it for myself.
