I'm sure this has been posted 100 times, but when i searched i didn't find anything helpful so ill post it, don't get mad!

Anyway, the players can login and select a character, but then it stays at "Entering Britainia" I know you guys will all say this its because of my server.cfg, and i think it is too, but i have double, triple, and checked again but its all correct, and the only weird thing is, i can login just fine, and when they try to login and this happens, i can see them in game. I'm sure this is a simple fix so thanks for your time!

Its most likely what we call a blackhole. What client versions are these players using? How many items and mobiles are around the area that they're logging into? Somehow, they're not receiving all of the info needed to log in (which includes everything in the world within 16 tiles of them) before they timeout. This could be major lag, this could be too many things around them, this could be a firewall or router blocking their entry for some reason... servers.cfg really doesn't have jurisdiction over anything past the "select servers" screen. As long as they receive their chars to select, they're past that.

Yup, Poi; if they have an older client version, this can be a big problem when there are lots of items in an area. Older than 095 and older then 3.0.0 (guessing there on the client) don't handle "Queued Data Mode" the same way, so it gets ugly.

You already have a modern POL (095+) - a modern client would also help with this, if that's possible. On our 'building' shard, it used to be a regular occurrence that people would get 'black holed' and lock up, and often need to be moved while offline to fix it. Once we upgraded our POL and client both, we've had essentially not a single 'black hole' incident at all, even in the midst of entire large cities still 'thawed'.

One thing I did on our game way back (and which still exists, though it's almost never used anymore), is made a WWW page (which is actually called indirectly by the web site) that lists an account's characters, and allows them to choose one to 'fix', by moving it to a known safe location. Of course, to do such a thing, you need to carefully assure that they are logged in with the appropriate username/password; you don't wanna let just anyone move PCs around!

Well, we use 2.0.0 and i considered upgrading from 095 to 096 but there are just to many changes to go through... I told them to create a new character so they login at britain instead but the same thing still happened.

Edit: also another weird part is just a few months ago it worked fine, then we had some ... "technical issues" (My video card broke, and my monitor stopped working) and had to take it down for a while, now that we put it back up(after editing the config *correctly*, and only the config) it doesn't work.

Client versions prior to version 4 are subject to "black holes".
