EA has changed the client encryption on its new 5.0.7 client.
UO Rice won't remove it anymore.
At the moment it seems you can only connect to your favorite shard with the newest Razor or ConnectUO version.
Just for those who perhaps wonder, why it don't work anymore :?

hopefully the guy who made UO Rice will notice or an alternative to this program is made. I actually have an installer that I just made for my shard completely tied around using UO Rice...

I wrote an email to Lord Binary. If his address didn't change and he's inside the uo community at the moment, he hopefully gets it and perhaps has also time to answer it :)

That's interesting; Hasn't it been a -really- long time since they've changed the encryption? To be honest, I've never seen a single use for it aside from making it a touch less than trivial to use third party programs (whether client or server) - and I really do mean only "a touch less than trivial".

Then again; perhaps there was only a minor difference in how things were done in the new client such that UORice just wasn't able to cope with it.

That's why it's called UO-Rice :D

Rice = Remover of Increadibly useless Client Encryption

UO Gateway seems to be having the same problem. Their forum is full of posts about it.

Gotta love it when they do something to annoy the 3rd party guys :)

Good News. He will take a look into it if he finds enough time. And if it is not too complicated, he is interested that UO_rice won't die with that new client encryption. :D

So keep your fingers crossed for him :)

Cool. Nice to see he's still around. Tell him to stop by the irc channel and say hey. He's where I started when I began working on the online Packet List after the one he had was no longer updated by it's original owner. :)

Here we go again.
Now with patches running into v6 uo_rice is broken again.
Anyone done any fiddling around with this?

6.0.1.3 was the one I tried.
Said it was too complex. Or are you using a later version of UO-Rice than 3.5?

Is v6 worth using?
We've been planning to upgrade the shard to 5.0.9.1 as the last v5 client.

*edited* You are right of course. It does work when I tried it again. Hmm, I am grateful you mentioned it.
