Well, I have a caveat and a question.

Caveat: If you intend to add new paper doll graphics to your shard, ie. new clothes or weapons, be careful where you add them in the gumpart file.

I used the wonderful tutorial that Maud Dib placed on his site and was able to add new clothes to our shard. The article did not warn me about the following problem however. I found that the postion in the gump art file is a direct correlation to the animation numbers that NPCs use InGame. For example if you look at the gump-anim using mulpatcher and see that gump location 0x6 is empty and you decide to put in there a new graphic for say a nice looking sword that you've drawn or found somewhere. Then you modify the body.def file to give that slot (0x6) the sword animation, you will find that all your orc captains will now be replaced with sword animations; only sword animations. Because the animation number for orc captains is 0x6. So that you will have "ghost swords" walking around. This can be a nice effect if you want enchanted weapons as NPCs but in my case I don't. We had harpies showing up as capes and daemons as dresses.

*laughs*

It would have been really funny if we were still back in beta.

Well, there is the caveat and the explanation. Now for my question.

Does anyone have a complete list of all animation numbers used for NPC animations from Renaissance through Mondain's Legacy or whatever version last added new anims? I know I can go down through Inside UO and right click on each and every one and copy paste but I was wondering if anyone else had already done this. I am sure that others would benefit from this list as well so they can avoid the unfortunate situation I created on my shard. With this list we could avoid using the conflicting gump locations.

Actually, the list from InsideUO won't give you the right numbers. What you need to look at is the info in the body.def/bodyconv.def

The numbers on the far left there are all of the graphic numbers for animations that you can use. In the bodyconv.def, you will note that the animations that are in LBR+ need to basically be 'converted' from their original numbers in those separate animation files, to other numbers. This file is meant to detail those conversions so the client knows what to display, and also so that old clients without those animations at all can display an alternate.

Of course, clothing and other equipment items will also be in those files, as they are animations as well (in fact, you could set a mobile's graphic property to one of those items to get the odd effect of a 'living item' - though you can't do a whole suit of armor like this, since it can only be a single item)

Your last example of a "living item" is the situation I encountered. So what I am looking for is a list of animation numbers for every NPC animation.

Using my example of location 0x6- If I place a new dress in the location 0x6 in the gump-anim file (per Mul patcher's tab naming). Then I go to body.def and add this entry: 6 {447} 0. Then whatever NPC animation corresponding to 6 will now appear as a moving dress.

Since it sounds like getting all the anim numbers is not as easy as I thought I guess all I really need is a "safe zone" (range of locations) for adding new paper doll graphics to the gumps-anim file.

Anyway have to get back to work.

Any help will be appreciated.

Rather than a list of the *used* numbers, how about a list of the *empty* ID's? :D

For your enjoyment, all free Animation/GUMP ID numbers.

Code:
## free animation/gump id's are denoted with a double pound sign "##" (i.e. commented out)
## Valid up to UO:SE
