Sometimes this is caused by an attempt to login with a client that is using an encryption level that is different than what POL is looking for.

Make sure the person at the IP that is giving you that error is using the right client and, if your server is set for no encryption, that they are using a client that has been "riced" using UO_Rice.

Read up on the pol.cfg file. There is an option there, to disable the notices of unknown packets :)

Yes, they are fine.

All unknown packets are, is something the Core doesn't know about, or rather use. So hence the term "unknown" because POL doesn't know them or isn't made to use them. If it's something you want to use, in 096+ you can make packethooks to use them. But otherwise, usually no need to know about them. Which is why the ability to disable that message was introduced.
