Is it possible to log into 097 distros with clients like Renaissance and/or AOS?

When I used renaissance and 095 I had no problems with client encryption and so on.
Having left UO world for 2 years, I didn''t know anything of this encription.. I installed 097 on locale, but when logging with renaissance, POL console says "unexpected message type etc etc, Account: none"

..I was logging with admin/admin.

Please help me :o

Download and run UO Rice. It will use your current client.exe and create a file called No_Crypt_Client.exe in your UO path. That will allow you to enter the server.

Used UORice on my client, and that's what happened.

Code:
Client connected from 192.168.0.1 (1 connections)
syslog [pkg/mobiles/newCharacter/oncreate.ecl]: Account (admin) creating charact
er (qwe)
Unknown packet type 0xbb: 9 bytes (IP:192.168.0.1, Account:admin)
0000: bb 00 00 00 0f 00 00 00  0f                        ........ ........

..client remains stuck with no map, but GM's top toolbars shows up.

I'm quite puzzled.

hmm... 0xbb is Ultima Messenger which shouldn't be a problem... maybe go into uo.cfg in your UO path and see if you have

EnableMessenger=on

if so, change it to off. If you don't have the entry, put it in equaling off.
