When hooking packets, before a character logs in, it would be helpful to at least get the IP address.
Sometimes it's necessary to keep track or recognize clients before the login, like when you're trying to prevent excessive invalid login credentials. The only way to do this right now is to ban the account for some period of time, which could easily turn into a nasty denial of service. If I could get the IP I could store it somewhere and when that IP fails to login too many times it gets banned for a period of time instead of the account.

Tek and me will be testing with it. Tried account name, but unsure when it actually gets applied to the client in the core...... so will have to research if it's doable for that much.
