What client versions are you trying to log in with? And what POL version is it?

OK. No_Crypt_Client is a unencrypted client made from a certain client version. When you are at the login screen where you'd type your name and password there is a version number displayed right below the password line. What is it?

OK the reason I was asking is because certain versions of client won't communicate properly with certain versions of POL but as far as I know 2.0.0 should work with 095. You might get a hold of a version 4 client and see if that works.
Also check your uocliebt.cfg file located in \POL\pkg\foundations\hooks to make sure it has the proper port number in it as well.

If you want some good 4.0.0 clients to try with (You should definitely patch to at least 4.x before using these clients though), you can check out my old collection of 4.x clients at www.cwo333.com/clients ... Just dont use the login.cfg that comes in the zips. Thats only to ward off hotlinking directly to the files.

Sorry Damo307.
My bad.
They didn't put any port info in the uoclient.cfg file until POL 096.
Disregard my post about that file.

Could you elaborate more on "doesn't work"?
What happens when someone tries to connect? On thier end and yours?
Do they simply time out, or is some error presented? Do you see any connection attempts on the POL console?
Can you ping the server from the client machine? And the client from the server? ("ping [IpAddress]" at a command prompt)
If you do a "netstat -a" on the host machine (at a command prompt) while the client tries to connect, can you see their connection?
Is there a router involved? If so, is it between the host and the client? Is port forwarding enabled on the router for port 5003 on internal connections?
What does the login.cfg file look like on the client machine?
Do normal networking functions work on the client/host, such as file sharing? Are both machines on the same subnet/network? I assume this is a peer-to-peer network? So no domains or active directory invovled.
Hmm, thats all I can think of now, but these are all the initial questions I would be asking myself to troubleshoot and isolate the problem.

The "couldn't connect" means the client cannot "see" the server. If the machines are on the "inside" of the routwr thwrw should be no problems connecting through the LAN unless Windows firewall is blocking them or you have some other firewall involved.

No need to turn it off. Just open the port on the firewall you are trying to connect to.

I assume your firewall has some way to configure which ports are open to the Internet. It is within this configuration screen/window that you open or close a port.
