Our old host, Blue-Canoe was free and we thank Nigel for that. Unfortunately, POL's website requirements exceeded what he could offer us - it was hurting his paying customers.

We're gonna get the website going soon. The boards were of course the most important... besides that picture of me with my friends in Canada and all that beer is pretty groovy for a front page.

The anual cost for the new website is $120 a year, which I invested into the project. What im hoping for is to use a resource with our new provider (dreamhost.com) that allows our users to make small donations that go directly towards our web hosting bill.. in a sense, a true self-sustaining, non-profit organization... uhm, ignore any embezzling done by Muad and I for beer... or four plane tickets to Las Vegas with names like.. Shinigami, Adam, etc. on them.

I'll pony up some dough to help defray the cost of the beer or even the website if you decide to use it for that too.

*grins*

Just email me an address to send the check or money order to or get a paypal account I can pay to. I am not at all concerned with how the money is spent. I figure the POLitburo deserves some rewards for their efforts.

We did a bit of a rush when we needed new hosting- with the site down, there was no way for us to actually let you know that we were considering Dreamhost! We did get a referral but I'm not sure if Austin got a promo code.

In any case, I'm considering moving another website to dreamhost later, so I'll keep your code in mind if I do. :)

Themes are available now also for the Forums as per Austin :)

If you go to your profile, we use the polStyle theme already for the forum default. subSilver we haven't done crap with. And we added a NEW theme called polSilver that Austin seems to like. Check it out by changing the theme in your Profile and let us know what you think, and any issues you run into with it.

New pol Silver theme set as main site theme. Please let me know of any issues. Missing downloads are NOT theme specific, so don't confuse that. Post missing attachments in another thread :P

Did you set the new theme to override user settings?

Changing the theme in the profile has no effect.

Yes, until we can get some feedback to make sure there is no issue with it :)

There's some trouble with the listing of a member's posts and, I'm guessing also, the listing of search results. The first result looks out of whack, and to be honest, all the entries are kinda difficult to really make sense of, compared to the rest of the pages.

I do like the style otherwise, though. It's nice

Doing a search looked fine to me, but yes I seen the problem with the Find All Posts By <so and so> from the View Profile page. Thx for the report. Will try to get it looked into and fixed up this week for sure.

If you use "Display results as posts" instead of "display results as topics," it really messes up the display. The first one comes out one way, and all the others come out completely different.

Aye, that's the same layout used for the Topics Made By from profile views. So it's simply (hopefully) just a few table issues with style of the results. Hopefully isn't too difficult to go through and get straightened out.

Made a small adjustment in the code to the header on the forums. Had some isolated reports of the 2 images overextending the header so it looked odd. Danielle, or any others that had that, can you tell me if it's still happening now for you?

Maybe this was happening before, but I only just now noticed it;

The Donation buttons have more vertical space between them, and this is causing the DIV or TD the header is contained in to expand, which is throwing off the big Penultima Online logo image, and causing the Hosting Donations Accepted image to extend a bit below the horizontal lines in the header.

I just realized why this only now appeared for me: Until what was here before I edited, this is NOT happening on Firefox... only on IE6/Win (haven't tested any other IE versions)... I happened to be viewing on IE without realizing it! It looks fine in FF2.0

kk. I'll try to look into it tonight if I can. At the moment going through a lot of the forum code making it XHTML 1.0 Transitional compliant... god what a damn pain!

Done about 2000 code changes to the forums over the past 8 hours. If you notice any new oddities let me know. Haven't found the fix yet for the header in IE, other than USE FIREFOX! hehe. Any way, IE is just ignoring line spacing in those, is why it does it. Will see if i can whip up an override for it, to force it to look like it should anyway in both IE and FF both.

Altered the 2 donation type links, side by side instead. Works in FF and IE fine now. Installed a nice IETab addon for FF and used that to help debug it :)

I just noticed that. Works beautifully.

Pesky browsers... wait. I better stop, lest I get this whole thread moved to Rants.
